In Human Design, we exist as two distinct aspects: the Design Crystal (body) and the Personality Crystal (mind), which are unified by the Magnetic Monopole. The body is the material vehicle through which our life unfolds, dictated by the intelligence of the Design Crystal. Ra Uru Hu emphasized that the body is an instrument of matter, following its own trajectory, independent of mental interference.
- The Design Crystal governs form consciousness, ensuring that our physical body functions according to its genetic blueprint.
- The Personality Crystal is a passenger, experiencing the material world but not in control of its direction.
- The Magnetic Monopole holds the illusion of separateness together and ensures that each individual follows their unique geometry in life.
By surrendering to this structure, we align with the correct unfolding of matter in our experience, rather than resisting it through conditioned mental strategies.

Ra Uru Hu spoke extensively about the mechanics that govern the material plane, emphasizing that we are not here to control matter but to flow with it. The material world operates through specific mechanics, which include:
- Strategy and Authority: The only way to correctly navigate matter is by following one’s Type, Strategy, and Authority. This ensures alignment with the correct opportunities, environments, and resources.
- The Transference of the Mind: The mind often creates illusions of control over matter, attempting to manipulate circumstances. However, matter is beyond mental influence and follows its own mechanics.
- Correct Timing: The material world operates on precise timing. Rushing or forcing things disrupts the natural flow, whereas surrendering to the body’s intelligence allows matter to move in alignment with our correct path.

Ra Uru Hu explained that matter is not separate from awareness. Consciousness experiences itself through form, but the Not-Self mind creates resistance by trying to dictate the movement of matter. The secret to mastering the material plane is to stop resisting its mechanics.
- Generators & Manifesting Generators thrive in the material world when they respond rather than initiate.
- Projectors align with matter by waiting for recognition and the correct invitations.
- Manifestors influence material reality by informing before taking action.
- Reflectors witness the flow of matter through their unique lunar cycle.
Each Type has a specific way of interacting with matter, and by honoring this, individuals experience less resistance and more flow.
4. The Illusion of Control Over Matter
One of the deepest teachings of Ra Uru Hu was that we do not control matter—it moves according to its own laws. The mind seeks to create narratives about success, failure, abundance, and scarcity, but in reality, these are simply aspects of the mechanical movement of form.
- Abundance is not something to chase—it is something that happens when one is in correct alignment.
- Struggle and resistance arise when one tries to impose mental will upon the mechanics of matter.
- The material world supports those who are correct in their process, not those who try to manipulate it through conditioned strategies.
Ra Uru Hu often described this understanding as a relief—the realization that we are not responsible for “creating” success but for following our design and letting success unfold as a byproduct of correctness.
Living in Alignment with Matter
To live correctly within the material world, one must surrender to the intelligence of the body. This means:
- Trusting Strategy and Authority above all else.
- Releasing attachment to outcomes and expectations.
- Observing the mind’s desire to control and recognizing its limitations.
- Allowing matter to take its natural course without interference.
By aligning with these principles, individuals experience less resistance, greater flow, and a deeper sense of peace in their relationship with the material plane.
