Reflectors – The rarest type, about 1% of the population. They have a sampling and reflective aura, designed to mirror their environment. Their strategy is to wait through a full lunar cycle before making major decisions.

Authority: The Key to Decision-Making

In Human Design, decision-making is not based on mental reasoning but on an individual’s inner authority. Ra Uru Hu emphasized that aligning with one’s authority leads to a life of flow and correct choices. The main authorities include:

Emotional Authority (Solar Plexus) – Requires waiting through emotional waves for clarity.
Sacral Authority (Gut Response) – In-the-moment “yes” or “no” guidance for Generators and Manifesting Generators.
Splenic Authority (Intuition) – Immediate, quiet knowing from the body’s awareness.
Ego Authority (Heart) – Decisions based on what serves the individual’s willpower and desires.
Self-Projected Authority (G Center) – Decisions made by speaking and hearing one’s truth.
Environmental Authority (Sounding Board) – Projectors process decisions by discussing them with trusted allies.
Lunar Authority (Reflectors) – A full 28-day cycle is necessary to reach clarity.

Centers: Understanding Your Energy Flow

The nine centers in Human Design correspond to different aspects of human life and function. These centers can be defined (consistent energy) or undefined (adaptive energy):

Head Center – Inspiration, questions, mental pressure.
Ajna Center – Conceptualizing and analyzing information.
Throat Center – Manifestation and communication.
G Center – Identity, direction, and love.
Heart (Ego) Center – Willpower, self-worth, and material resources.

Each type has a “not-self” theme that signals misalignment:

Manifestors experience anger when they face resistance.
Generators encounter frustration when they initiate instead of respond.
Manifesting Generators also experience frustration and anger when they rush ahead.
Projectors feel bitterness when they are not recognized.
Reflectors feel disappointment when their environment does not reflect their highest potential.

Recognizing these emotions serves as a compass, guiding individuals back to their correct path.

Deconditioning: Returning to Your True Nature

One of the fundamental teachings of Ra Uru Hu is the process of deconditioning. From childhood, we are conditioned to act in ways that may not align with our design. Through awareness and practice, individuals can shed these layers of conditioning and return to their authentic selves. This process typically takes about seven years, the time it takes for all the body’s cells to regenerate.

The Importance of Strategy and Authority in Everyday Life

Living one’s design is not about intellectual understanding but about practical application. Ra Uru Hu repeatedly emphasized that the experiment of following one’s strategy and authority is the only way to truly grasp Human Design.
